Climb On! Singapore 2010

Hi all! You probably don’t know but Climb On! 2010 is just around the corner! In fact, its 23-24 Oct, with early bird registration closing on 3 Oct~!

For the uninitiated, ClimbOn! Singapore is a bouldering carnival with LOTS of fun routes for you to try – from the easiest (even for those totally new to climbing) to the sickest! Its the biggest climbing carnival we have in Singapore!

We’ll be sending in the registration forms as a school, so keep a look out for details!!

CCA week & welcome climb 2010

Hi everyone, If you are cant find our booth amongst the mass of clubs and society around, check out this map.

As part of UMC’s tradition, we will be having the Annual Welcome Climb on the 8 & 9 September. Its like an open house for our wall, allowing those who are unsure to try out the sport before committing. Do come join in the fun and make new friends and fellow climbing enthusiast in the process. However, limited slots available so remember to sign up at our booth. See you then.

Dance on the wall, literally

These amazing people have combined dancing and climbing making it so easy and graceful. Not the usual power and hard core bouldering moves too fast to catch speed climbing. Perhaps we can do this as a performance for next year’s Bouldermania carnival.

We are going to the Olympics

Sport climbing is now fully recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and will probably be included in the 2020 Olympics. It will be decided on 2013. By then, I will be a real old man. Here’s a link to the interview with the IFSC president. –> click me

Latest news from IFSC is that Singapore has been elected as the Hosting city for World Youth Championship 2012.

Merry xmas my dear climbers!

We have reached the last phase of UMC’s events this december, bouldermania preparations! We will be starting our 1st preparation on the coming monday, 28th December 2009, at 1pm at our wall in SRC! We will be removing all the tiles and washing em. Some will be cutting wood, drilling holes etc for our wall building in january. Do come down if ur able to help! We will appreciate any extra manpower! Take it as a chance to learn something new on the technical aspects of how walls are built as well!
Btw, the photos and videos for the training camp and KL trip will be up on facebook and on our picasa album soon! Do check em out!

Overseas climbing trip!!

Trip is 4d3n. Going to KL batu caves to do natural climbing (its friendly to the less proficient) and Kl’s famous camp5 climbing gym!! Check out camp5 and go to gallery for more information on the gym!

Of coz, the trip wont be jus climb and climb. It will be so boring! So there will be rest and relax activities like visit to the insides of batu caves itself, waking up early in the morning to queue up for free visit to KL’s twin tower, visit to KLCC’s science centre (its not childish ok, its fun!), shopping movies arcarde bowling etc at 1utama shopping megaplex where camp5 is located and visits to night markets in the heart of KL!!

We will be sharing a 3star suite room to fit everyone in. The beds can be seperated into 2 to slp more ppl. Probably alil bit squeezy still but that makes e whole trip cosy and cohesive!! hahaha. Or we are stayin in backpackers inn. It all depends on the finalised number of ppl going.

Total trip budget wont exceed 400-500SGD MAXIMUM for sure, inclusive of e travelling and accomodation and expenditures there in total. Of coz, thats provided you spend normally over there, not inclusive of personal shopping!

Deadline for signups for KL climbing trip, chalet and level 2 profeciency course will be end of next week 13 november!!\
Training camp is not that urgent yet. However, we would appreciate prompt signups to make necessary arrangements early!!

Singlet and logo designs for bouldermania!!

Lastly, we welcome any designs for our singlets and logo for NTU’s annual home bouldering event for our own ppl : bouldermania!!!!
So if u are creative and u haf any designs in mind, do email me asap as we need to submit for printing soon!
We hope to have brilliant designs by our own people for our own home event! Afterall, you will be the one wearing the singlet with the logo on it!!
